Most of the grant money for secondary education was used for technology upgrades or replacement, although some used all or part of the grant money for support of programs such as a teacher/student mentor program at Sequoia, for "History Alive" curriculum materials at Los Cerritos and the Latino Connection at Thousand Oaks High School . Conejo Valley High School is using the funds to supplement the cost of a traditional high school year book, produced by students at the school. While the grants at the elementary level had a greater variety of uses, many are using the funds for SuccessMaker licenses or DVD technology to support the new social studies adoption. Other uses are for books and Reading Counts tests to go along with them, enhancing science, math, language arts and music programs, as well as, technology purchases and support for GATE programs. The foundation happily disseminated the funds for all of the worthwhile programs that were applied for. Providing extra funds for a more enriching academic experience for students is one of the primary objectives of the Conejo Schools Foundation. While the new state budget will allow the district to restore many of the budget cuts from the last few years, the foundation will continue to seek funding for enriching and additive programs that will enhance the learning experience for all students in the district.
