FUNDING CVUSD student enrollment of 22,312 is the largest in the county and encompasses 20 elementary schools, 3 comprehensive high schools, 4 middle schools and 2 alternative high schools. Our adult education program serves an additional 10,000 clients each year. |

The primary source of discretionary money for the school district comes from the state base revenue allotment of a little less than $4700 per student. Additional funds from federal, state and local sources of about another $2100 per student are largely targeted to special programs. The total amount of revenue per student is $800 below the National Average. HOW WE USE OUR RESOURCES 84% of our total budget is used for salaries and benefits for employees. Of this amount the breakdown is approximately 62% of the budget for teachers and secondary counselors, 18% for classified employees such as custodians and secretaries, and 4% for administrative salaries and benefits.Other uses for our budget include 7.70% for contracted services such as school bus transportation, 7.50% for books and supplies, .50% for capital outlay and only 0.29% for discretionary funding for such things as computers, field trips, music and art programs, after school programs, athletics, and science materials. In terms of budget focus, 77% of our total budget goes to instructional programs and services, 6% to pupil services such as counseling and nurses, 11% to plant services such as custodial, grounds, and maintenance, 5% to administration and 1% to community and ancillary services.
